Te Ra the Sun

We have been reading how Maui caught the sun and decided to make our own special sun and flax ropes to catch it!  The children enjoyed this activity and spent a long time weaving and creating their flax ropes.  

Volcanoes!

The children have been very busy learning about Volcanoes.  They have made a volcano out of clay, using pipe cleaners for the lava and decorating it with rocks and sticks.  They all enjoyed the experiments with making lava erupt from the top!

First week back at school!

What a great first week back at school!  It has been so nice to see each other again, play with each other, make things with each other, do things together and reconnect with everyone.

Good morning Room 3, I hope you all had a great weekend!

Todays challenge is a shape hunt...

Today I want you to go around your house, either inside or outside or both and see if you can find me....

- 2 small square shape things and 1 big square shape thing. - 3 things that are a circle shape. - something that is an oval shape. - 1 small thing that is a rectangle shape and 1 big thing that is a rectangle shape. - something that is a diamond shape. - something that is a cylinder shape. - something that is a triangle shape. See how you go and when you have found as many as you can, see what you can create with all the different shapes that you have found, maybe you could also draw the different shapes. Are there any other shapes around your home that are different, maybe you might find a hexagon...! Don't forget to take a photo when you have finished or you could draw what you have made from all the shapes.
