Can we make Maui's waka float?

 

We are scientists.
We felt and explored different materials to decide what would make a good boat for Maui.

Taakaro ki te Ruma Toru

We are great at playing together in Ruma Toru. We play with lots of different children. We have fun together. We are kind and friendly when we play.

 

We think and act like scientists.

Room 3 found 8 pieces of rubbish. This data shows us most of the rubbish was from lunchboxes. This means we need nude food lunches to stop this rubbish.

We are getting to know each other and our school Tuurangawaewae in Room 3 as we start the school year.

Room 3 Bakers

 On Friday the children had a wonderful time baking.  We have been growing vegetables for the last two terms and decided it was time to make something with the vegetables.  After many discussions it was decided on Beetroot and Chocolate cake and mini vegetable pizzas!

All the children were involved,  there was lots of maths and science happening as well as turn taking and learning patience while waiting!

Te Ra the Sun

We have been reading how Maui caught the sun and decided to make our own special sun and flax ropes to catch it!  The children enjoyed this activity and spent a long time weaving and creating their flax ropes.  

Volcanoes!

The children have been very busy learning about Volcanoes.  They have made a volcano out of clay, using pipe cleaners for the lava and decorating it with rocks and sticks.  They all enjoyed the experiments with making lava erupt from the top!
